Childhood Friends

When I was little, I had two safety blankets: my actual blanket, named Bee-kon, and my panda, Snowball. My mom threw away Bee-Kon when I was still a wee one (I’ll never forgive her) but Snowball has lasted through the ages. I’ve had her since I was two (possibly three), so now you all know where my panda obsession began. She was a get-well gift for my mom and was passed down to me. Family, friends, boyfriends and loves all know Snowball very well and accept the fact that I will never get rid of her. She has gotten discolored over the years but that’s quite alright; I still love her all the same.

I’m 25 but I’m still very much a child at heart – look at that pouty face. Some might find it weird that I’ve held onto a stuffed panda all my life, but who says growing up means letting go of the little things that bring us happiness? Now, if I was still walking around with my Bee-Kon and sucking my thumb…that might be a little different.

Do you have a childhood “safety blanket”?
