Arrojo

Two weeks ago, I was invited to Arrojo Studio to get my hair cut and colored, in celebration of their tenth anniversary. I have done “hair modeling” before (read: broke college student in need of a free cut) and it was almost always a disaster. They usually had a specific cut and color in mind and I had no say in it. This time, however, I left completely satisfied and there were no tears (there were tears before – tears and mullets).

Inva corrected the color in my hair, which was several shades of brown. I now have a darker, more even, richer brown – exactly what I asked for.

Tim followed exactly what I asked for. I didn’t want anything too different. I just wanted a little more movement, some weight taken out, pieces to cover my ears because I’m crazy and my ears make me self conscious. Most importantly, I wanted my scar (which you can kind of see in the picture above) to be covered. When my hair is limp and heavy, it separates and the scar is always visible. He did all of these things and I was thrilled with the final result. We also bonded over our evolution of musical taste!

Liz did my makeup with all of their own products, and then we headed outside for a quick photo shoot with the very talented David Ducane. The bottom picture is what they decided to hang in the gallery, along with the photos of the other participants! You can see more photos on his Tumblr.

Of course, you can really tell if you love a cut until you get home and style it yourself. I did just that, and I’m happy to report that I’m already planning my next trip to Tim and Inva.

Thank you to all of the kind folks at Arrojo for including me in their tenth anniversary celebration!
