You all already know how much I love Givenchy’s Rouge Interdit Vinyl Lipstick in Noir Révélateur. I always carry several lip colors with me, partly because I am the worst at cleaning out my bag at the end of the day and they all just seem to collect in there. But it doesn’t matter if I start out with a red lip, a pink liquid lipstick, or a rosy nude. At some point during the day — when the lipstick comes off — I turn to Noir Révélateur. I wear a lot of matte, long lasting lipsticks, so I rely heavily on lip balms to keep my lips from drying out. The problem is that I have very little pigment in my lips, and even many tinted balms don’t give me enough color to keep me from looking washed out. What I love about this particular shade is that it gives me that just-ate-a-bowl-of-cherries flush and it’s ultra moisturizing from the black rose oil. But that’s not to say that it’s only used as my fallback when the lipstick comes off; more often than I ever document, I’m a much more pared down version of myself. Jeans, a chunky sweater, some low mary-janes, & a messy updo – that’s one of my go-to Fall outfits. Structured brows, a swipe of liner (or during those weeks when I have lash extensions, nothing at all), some blush, and a lip color, whether bold and matte or subtle and slightly glossy – that’s my go-to beauty uniform, with a little concealer wherever needed. Oh yeah, and a bit of lightweight powder to keep me from looking like a shiny mess.

I recently tried a couple of shades of Le Prisme Visage, a four-shade powder that can be used separately or as I prefer, swirled together and applied all over, to even out complexion and mattify without losing luminosity. I tried both 2 and 3, and prefer 2 on my pale skin, though I’m really interested in checking out #1, which has color correcting shades. The texture is buttery smooth and it has a feathery light, silky finish, so it doesn’t feel like I’m wearing anything. I very rarely wear foundation, and I hate the feeling (and look!) of most powders. When you can see it sitting on top of your skin, or it feels cakey…no, thank you. I love a finely milled, barely there powder that keeps me from looking super shiny and gives that subtle beauty filter. How many times have I snapchatted and looked like a shiny plastic mannequin, and then in the very next snap, magically back to normal? It’s all about that lightweight powder and a travel pack of blotting papers. Start with a light dust of powder in the morning, blot throughout the day, touch up when necessary. But it has to be a good, smooth, lightweight powder or else you’ll have that dreaded caked on look. Use a light hand, because it’s easier to add than take away. But it has to be a good, smooth, lightweight powder or else you’ll have that dreaded caked on look. Both products are available at Sephora and Sephora.com, so check them out for yourself and let me know what you think!

Thank you to Givenchy for sponsoring this post (and stocking me up with more of my favorite essentials).
