I have a lot of lip colors. A lot. And yet, I often find myself reaching for the same ones, over and over. They often go in cycles, not because I stop loving one and favor another, but usually because I leave it in one of my purses, can’t find it, then reach for another one and remember how much I love that one. That’s why you’ll see me wearing one color incessantly for a month, and then it will disappear for awhile. Cases in point: Kat Von D “Berlin” (where are you? I miss you), Aromi “Rose Gold” metallic, Sephora’s “Pink Souffle” (which I just repurchased), and “Committed” by The Balm, which smells like Girl Scouts Thin Mints (aka heaven). I also go through phases where I swap my lipsticks for liquid lipsticks and vice versa. Lately, I’ve been doing a lot of liquid lips — and I’ve been wearing a lot of the same four shades, over and over. You guys ask me about them all the time and though I am always happy to answer your questions, I thought it would be good to put them all in one place, for your reference!
Of all the reds, “Bang Bang” is my most worn. It’s a perfectly warm but not too orangey red, and I’m kind of panicking (not to be dramatic, haha!) because they no longer carry it at Sephora and it’s out of stock at Ulta. Is it being discontinued?! I have the Smashbox site open right now and I’m ordering backups, just in case. EDIT: It wouldn’t let me add it to my cart on their site (what the heck?!) but I found it on Amazon and all of a sudden there are a few back on Sephora. I’m going to inquire about whether or not it’s being discontinued!
Perhaps my most asked about lip color of all time, Smashbox “Babe Alert” is the perfect rosy hue. You might notice I wear a lot of Smashbox…it’s because I love the formula and the array of colors! I have lots of favorites from the liquid lipstick lines.
Okay, so I’m realizing I wear a lot of Smashbox. I’m basically an unofficial brand ambassador for their liquid lipsticks, since I love them so much. Not sponsored, haven’t worked with them, just love them. This metallic red lip color is what dreams are made of. The metallic finish makes the finish a little different (it feels a little heavier, if that makes sense) but wow, the color is so gorgeous and it wears really well.
I almost feel bad when people ask about this color, because it’s one of their limited edition colors. It’s still available on the site, so stock up on a few, like I did! I love Too Faced but I wish they had more colors available for their matte liquid lipsticks. Kandee came to the rescue with her line — this “Freshly Baked” hue is exactly what I was looking for.
