The irony of my recent post about mental health / personally being in a good place is that right after publishing, I had a few days there where I just could not shake myself out of a fog. A combination of current events and personal issues had my stomach in knots all week. I just kept telling myself, “Four more days…three more days…two more days until Maine…” and then ended up leaving a day early and booking another hotel room for the first night. It was the relief I needed. There’s nothing that makes me happier than seeing Miku happy, and I planned this whole trip with her in mind. I’ll tell you more about it, where we stayed, what we did, where we ate in a future dedicated post — I already had a few people request a dog friendly guide and I’m more than happy to oblige.

It helps to have little things to look forward to, whether it’s something as little as meeting a friend for breakfast or going on a trip. We’re already back and I’m wishing I could have extended our stay for just one more day, or maybe a whole week. I haven’t been that happy and carefree in a long time, and it reminded me of a few things:

  1. That sometimes conflicting feelings — being happy in one’s personal life, hurting for the world — can coexist in one heart.
  2. The internet is not a healthy place to reside when in a state of anguish.
  3. Miku’s smile is the best medicine. Bobby’s isn’t so bad, either.

I wish I could say it’s good to be back, but I’d rather be running on the beach with Miku:)
