Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Palette
I recently received a preview of the Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani eyeshadow palette, and decided to try it out and give you a little peek. I don’t know why I was expecting more vibrant shadows; Gwen really does more of a natural or smokey eye, leaving the bright colors for her lips. Since she was really hands-on with the entire process (package design, colors and finishes, names), it makes sense that she created a palette she would actually use. Therefore, it’s stocked with different shades and finishes of neutrals, with just a few pops of color (pink, dark and vibrant blue, gold). If you don’t already have the Naked palettes – or even if you do, and are a beauty junkie – you’ll love the range of neutrals and variation of finishes. There’s a good mix of matte and shimmer, with some of the latter being a little smoother than others (“Pop” is a chunkier shimmer and works best when applied wet). A few shades are pre-existing (Skimp, Stark, and Blackout), but most are exclusive to the palette.
Since it’s her palette, I went with a signature Gwen Stefani makeup look: neutral eyes with lots of liner and lashes, and a bold red lip. I used “Bathwater” all over the lid, “Anaheim” in the crease blended outward with “Stark,” “Zone” in the outer and lower lid, and then “Blonde” as a brow highlight. I finished with “Perversion” liquid liner and some wispy lashes on top, “Demolition” liner on the bottom. Gwen usually goes for a cooler red lipstick, but I went with the warmer, orange-red “Temper” Matte Revolution Lipstick.
