I recently collaborated with my favorite photo editing app, A Color Story, to make my own filter pack. A Color Story is known for their bright, poppy, and airy photo filters, but my “Stardust” filter pack is a slight departure from that. They pretty much have all of those on lock, so I went for slightly moodier, vintage-inspired filters. Each filter is named after a star I’ve long adored (hence the name), such as Ronnie from the Ronettes, Billie Holliday, Claudette Colbert, and so on — and I am so excited to release them! Below are some photos I edited with my filters to show you what each of them do.
You can download A Color Story for Apple here, and Android here, and purchase my “Stardust” filter pack inside the app:) Tag your instagram photos with #AColorStoryStardust for a chance to be featured on my pages and @acolorstory!
Lucille makes blues and reds pop, adds contrast.
Billie has a Cyan/Red cross process, with subtle cyan highlights and red shadows.
Diana darkens blacks and deepens shadows, keeps pops of red and has a yellow to orange hue shift. This has quickly become one of my favorites!
Possibly my most used filter is Marilyn, which desaturates colors and keeps reds intact. I love pops of red. I usually use this filter without any other adjustments, at about 75%-85%.
Ronnie gives photos a soft, hazy grey wash and lifts shadows.
Goldie gives a wash of subtle peachy golden warmth.
Claudette gives a rich contrast with a golden neutral hue.
Bardot is great for moody, soft portraits.
Hepburn boosts reds, oranges, and yellows, giving yellows a slight orange shift and red a slight orange shift.
Shrimpton gives a subtle wash of hazy pink and lifts shadows.
Julie is great for soft, crisp portraits.
Sophia is ultra moody. I love this one for a dark film feel.
Jane gives an overall warmth, with a strong yellow to orange hue shift. This can take a green scene and make it look like fall!
I hope you enjoy my “Stardust” filter pack with A Color Story!
