3 Ways to Style Your Hair with a Beret
Berets have been a pretty big trend, the past year — and that feels weird to say, since berets have been around forever. I have always worn berets (you know I love a hat), so it was great news for me and my already large collection of vintage and new berets — I could get berets in every color, if I so wished. But since the trend surged, I’ve gotten some questions about how to style your hair with a beret. While there’s no one way to style your hair with a beret, I have three go tos that will give you some ideas. If you’d like a step by step or video tutorial, let me know in the comments! I’d be happy to break it down for you. In the meantime, check out my favorite three ways to style your hair with a beret:
With a low side bun
Pull your hair into a low side ponytail and place your beret on your head to see where you can comfortably place the bun. Loosely wrap into a bun, pin in place and set with spray. I have pretty fine hair, so I add in a few extensions in order to make the bun fuller. If I don’t have extensions, I do a low, messy side bun to give it the illusion of volume.
With loose waves
Click here for a tutorial that works for any hair length. FYI: I used this Conair 1 & 1/4″ curling iron for these waves, and I’m wearing Luxy hair extensions in dark brown for extra length and volume. When I have my bangs parted in the middle, I keep my beret centered and back just enough to fully show my bangs. Play around with the placement of your beret to see what you prefer!
With a loose side braid
For this look, slightly messy and loose is key. After braiding to the side, pull at the braided pieces to loosen it up and give it more volume. Pull a few pieces out on the other side, and let it do its thing for the rest of the day. It gets better as the day goes on! For this particular look, I like to tip my beret a little to the other side for some balance.
