Rainy Days: Floral Skater Dress with Hunter Boots

We’ve had our fair share of rainy days, but I don’t let them get me down. Having a brand new pair of rain boots doesn’t hurt. I’ve been eyeing this style of Hunter boots for awhile, and after looking at this month’s forecast, I went ahead and ordered them from Nordstrom. I have a couple pairs of rain boots, but they’re such specific colors and don’t go with all that much. I have a tendency to buy statement pieces and I’ve been looking to get more staples that go with everything. I love that these are a slimmer silhouette, plain black (read: goes with everything!) and feel less clunky. I also picked out this dress and pink cardigan, because I’m oddly lacking in the sweater and jacket department — I have tons of coats, but nothing for that in between weather. A solid pink cardigan may as well be a neutral in my closet, but it also comes in tons of other colors. Before I buy anything, I try to imagine it worn in several different ways with pieces that already exist in my closet, and all of these passed the test. I can picture this dress with a denim jacket, alone with sandals, or converse. But for this particular day, I wore them all at once. I always do that with new things: I have to wear them right away! And on a rainy day, why not break out the new rain boots and dress them up a bit?
