Erica (aka PinMeUpHair) always knows how to make my vintage hair dreams come true. When I asked her for a giant, vintage inspired half up and half down do with lots and lots of volume, she taught me a neat trick that totally changed the game! This is the holiday hair of my dreams. You can watch it in action in the video here — all it takes is a hair donut that’s covered with clip on extensions. Pin that under your ponytail and voila! Major major volume. She also said you can make a “ratt” with a hair net and braiding hair, and pin that in.
Speaking of — did you know that those pieces from vintage vanity sets with the hole in the middle were meant for collecting hair? I had no idea. Erica told me that ladies would place a hair net inside the hair receiver, and then clean their hair out of the their brushes every night and place it inside. That way they could make a hair ratt for their updos! You learn something new every day. Beats clogging the drain, don’t you think?
