A Casual Halloween Outfit

Bobby and I have been extremely busy this Halloween season, both with actual Halloween projects and non Halloween ones. The non Halloween ones are not as fun (but sadly, even more time consuming!) and we’re stuck inside most days, so every great once in a while we have been taking drives to do a little leaf peeping while we can. I keep getting anxious that we’re missing peak Fall, because we haven’t had many days to enjoy it. I hate that I do that to myself: worry so much over missing a moment, always trying to maximize my enjoyment of something temporary by concentrating so hard that it almost feels stressful. In fact, I do that on vacations, sometimes. As Bobby would say, “Classic Virgo.”

This particular day, I was so exhausted from shooting quite literally all night, I fell asleep on our drive and didn’t wake up until we arrived at this beautiful location. I honestly have no idea where we were, but it was beautiful and empty and I felt so relaxed, if a little bit cold. Other than a little swipe of lipstick to make myself feel vibrant and alive (only slightly joking), I wasn’t wearing makeup or feeling stressed about getting the shot or approaching deadlines — and I almost forgot we are still in the middle of a pandemic, because the outside looked so beautiful it felt impossible that everything could still be so broken.

But then my nose got really cold, and despite not being around anyone else, I put my mask on to warm it up. Yep, it’s still 2020 and we are still in a pandemic — it wasn’t just a bad dream on a long drive. But wow, can the world still be so pretty, even when everything is falling apart.
