Easy Halloween Snack Board Idea: Jack-O-Lantern Pumpkin (and how to assemble it)

Easy Halloween Snack Board Idea

The halloween snack board has become my favorite party contribution. Whether it’s a true charcuterie board, a savory snack platter, or a display of sweet treats, I love that they can look impressive without needing a lot of time…or skills in the kitchen. Let’s be honest, Bobby is the cook and the baker. I just like to decorate.

I’ve made many a Halloween snack board — they’re my favorite! — and this pumpkin snack board is particularly easy because it just requires a round charcuterie board and color sorted treats. Homemade or store bought doesn’t matter; I like to do a little mix and match. Here’s how to assemble your Halloween snack board to look like a jack-o-lantern pumpkin:

How to build a Pumpkin Snack Board

Use a round charcuterie board as your base

Start with the jack-o-lantern’s eyes and mouth

Start building your Halloween pumpkin snack board with the jack-o-lantern’s eyes and mouth. I used homemade sugar cookies (I use Emma’s sugar cookie recipe!) that I cut into the shape of bats and cats, with HomeGoods cookie cutters. Get creative: you can make these out of any treats you like!

Form the nose

I used chocolate covered sunflower seeds and jordan almonds. Much like the board, decor, and tablecloth — these were found at HomeGoods!

Add a border

Adding a border of pumpkin candies to your Halloween snack board will keep the rest of the filler in place. Think of this as making an outline for a coloring book!

Start filling in the jack-o-lantern’s face with orange hued treats

When filling in the spaces, start with the focal points or any larger treats you want to add. For me, that was these pumpkin cookies. I made them little “cheeks”. Anywhere else, they may have been distracted. Then, I added some orange jordan almonds to the space below the nose.

Keep filling!

Remember, this is like coloring inside the lines! Once the outline of your Halloween snack board is done and the base is set, just fill in the spaces with orange colored candies and treats. Use bulkier pieces in larger spaces, and fill smaller voids with equally tiny treats.

Don’t forget the stem!

Finish your pumpkin snack board with gummy worms for the stem. You can also use pretzels, graham crackers, or any candies you want. Just have fun and don’t overthink it!
