A Week’s Review
One of these days, I’ll get caught up and won’t be writing about things that happened two weeks ago. One of these days. I had a very busy week, complete with actual social outings. Gasp! The hermit left her habitat not once but three times in the week, for something other than errands and work. In an effort to catch up to relevant events, here is what you missed, in three parts.
1) Two lunch dates with three lovely girls!
First, lunch at Red Cat with Vanessa and Cara. I love them! Apparently I decided to dress up as a little boy from a period film. What the heck. I don’t know what to tell you guys. The hat made it even more ridiculous, but my ears were killing me and I needed something to cover them. Despite my odd little costume, we had a great lunch and they brought me my little envelope clutch (the ones we got to design/oversee at Coach). Pictures of that later! Outfit details: thrifted blazer, vintage beret, antique blouse, vintage bow, vintage belt, 4 stroke jeans? or maybe forever 21, vintage boots.
The next day, I had lunch at Ella with Pamela from Market Publique. After lunch, we headed over to their space down the street. They gave me these amazing vintage orange gloves that match my coat perfectly! I put them on immediately; my fingers were frozen. I’ll give them a proper debut later in the week, now that the weather is going back to lower levels. I also picked up a really freaking cute necklace for a giveaway…wait until you see it next week! Outfit Details: vintage beret, vintage coat, vintage dress, forever 21 shirt, Market Publique vintage gloves, thrifted belt, Target tights, ModCloth shoes.
After our lunch, I fell down an entire flight of stairs at the station. It not only hurt like crazy, it also ruined the heels of my shoes. I am so graceful.
2) We rescued a pup and found a new home for him!
While thrifting in Long Island, we came across this little guy. He was tied to a pole with a rope and had no collar. We found out he had been there for over seven hours – someone abandoned him. We took him home, obviously! After calling shelters and posting on craigslist, we pretty much confirmed what we already knew – no one was looking for him. We found him a loving new home. Kim and I both cried when we dropped him off. He is the sweetest, cuddliest little pup. He just melts in your arms.
3) My Lloyd Dobler dreams came true!
Kim and I were surrounded by the Lloyd Dobler “Mobler” and they all held their boomboxes above their heads, playing “In Your Eyes.” It was probably one of the best things that has ever happened to us. I was laughing so hard, I started tearing up. They didn’t know it at the time, but I knew one of the Lloyds…so we knew what was going on. Yep, that’s Bobby on the right!
A crowd of Lloyd Doblers went around the city with their boomboxes above their heads, in celebration of the 20th anniversary of “Say Anything.” Some recipients were bewildered, others annoyed (I saw one in particular that looked so angry), but most got a huge kick out of it. One girl even posted on missed connections, saying how they made all of her dreams come true. That’s a girl after my own heart! We couldn’t help but smile all day.
Now you’re all caught up! What was your week like?
