MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour Lip Swatches
The permanent MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour collection recently launched online and in stores in fifteen different shades, which I know a lot of you have been waiting for. MAC sent seven of them to me, so I decided to do some lip swatches. Check them out, below – and let me know which ones are your favorites!
MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour “Back in Vogue”: Peachy nude. I love this color, and I don’t think I have anything just like it in my makeup kit – especially not with liquid lipsticks. I usually lean toward roses and mauves (and reds, of course) and not peachy colors, but between this and NARS “Brigitte“, of which I’ve already used two tubes, I’m broadening my horizons. I guess “Brigitte” is kind of a peachy-rosey-nude, though…but I digress.
MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour “Feels So Grand”: Deep true red. This is an epic, perfect red.
MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour “Mademoiselle”: Bright creamy coral. Not only does this color make me look dead (although I think it would look great on darker skin tones than mine), but this one is extremely dry and flakey, for some reason. See how it broke when I smiled? Not cute, and it was way streaky.
MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour “Oh Lady”: Deep wine. This vampy color was another favorite, and I was impressed by its opacity with just one coat.
MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour “Personal Statement”: Shocking pink. This is truly neon, so it’s not for the faint of heart. They’re all pretty dry, since they’re liquid lipsticks and that’s their nature, but this one did feel a little flakier than others…but it might also be because it was one of the last lip swatches I shot (and my lips were hurting, by that point). The color, however…so good! I want to give it another shot, when my lips are not so dry.
MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour “Recollection” – Intense bright violet. This one was a standout. The color is gorgeous and it had excellent coverage.
MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour “To Matte With Love”: Bright raspberry. Not surprisingly, this color was my absolute favorite. It reminds me a lot of NYX “San Paulo” soft matte lip creme, which is probably my favorite drugstore makeup item ever, except this is a thicker consistency.
