I have a habit of using birthday or Christmas money for necessities or just putting it in my bank account. I find nothing wrong with it, but I do think it bothers my family a little bit when their intent was to provide me with a gift – not groceries. I was having this conversation with Helena not long ago. She, too, had the same tendency. Since my family sent me handy gift cards this year, I decided to treat them as such and actually get myself a gift. With my gift cards combined, I picked out this fun, petal-fringed vest from The Outnet. It’s something I would normally admire and not purchase – but now that I have it, I have already worn it twice. Best part? I still have a balance left on my gift card. I’m not promising it won’t be spent on something horribly mundane.
