Happy Halloween! The Wizard of Oz Group Costume
We managed to take a picture of our Wizard of Oz group costume before it started pouring buckets (it was already raining in this photo)! Pictured: My brother in law Jon (Lollipop Guild), Lulu (Flying Monkey), niece Roxy Mae (Dorothy), niece Lily (Mini Dorothy), nephew Ryder (Tinman), Grandma (The Wicked Witch Of The West), Miku (Flying Monkey), boyfriend Bobby (Cowardly Lion), sister Amanda (Glinda The Good Witch), me (Scarecrow), nephew Jackson (The Wizard), sister Tessa (Lullaby League).
We have a lot of birthdays at this time of year, so we celebrated three of them with a joint birthday / Halloween party. Happy birthdays, Amanda (30), Roxy (11), and Lily (3)! When two of the birthday girls decided they wanted to dress as Dorothy, I asked the family if we could all dress up as The Wizard Of Oz characters. Of course, I decided this the week before the party, as I do. I think we managed to pull our Wizard Of Oz group costume idea off, don’t you think? I made Tessa’s Lullaby League costume: the bonnet, the top, and the tutu overlay. I also made my hat and collar! I don’t sew nearly as much as I used to, but I still love being able to make and mend whatever I need. This time was extra special, because I used my great grandma’s industrial sewing machine — the same machine I learned on. She left it to me and I still need to bring it back (and find a spot for it), but in the meantime it is at my sister’s house, where I can still use it. Once you use one of those machines, you’ll have a hard time going back to anything else!
I hope you all have a very happy and safe Halloween. If you need any last minute costume ideas, check out all of my posts here. Trick or treat!
