Bust Magazine Shoot

I’ve been a little busy lately (and honestly, in a bit of a funk), but I’m finally getting around to posting the behind the scenes photos from my shoot with Bust! The shoot took place on Tuesday, at Karine’s (the photographer) apartment and then in front of the library. We shot three (and a half) different outfits, but I only have two to show you. Catherine joined us and took these pictures – thanks, Catherine! She wrote more about it on her blog, so you can read a little more about it, there. She even referenced how much I tripped, while walking around. I wish I could blame it on the heels, but I just can’t walk, in general. I stumble all over the place; my ankles are constantly giving out on me. It’s gotten so that I’m not even embarrassed anymore…I take a few spills now and then and just laugh it off.

This is me, trying to do a mini-leap and still maintain a nice expression. Not quite! Hopefully some of Karine’s photographs caught me looking a little more normal.

Me, Karine and Lisa (from Bust). Sometimes my eyes disappear when I smile.

We got stopped by a foreign news crew, who asked me if this was the new American style. I don’t even remember my response. I just giggled a lot. Now they’re going to think that everyone leaps around in ruffled skirts and trips in their heels.

We ended up going back to Karine’s apartment, again. She wanted to shoot something with sequins, because of the pretty back lighting.

I had to throw something together at the last minute, because I hadn’t planned on using the sequined vest. While I was pretending to be a model, her little dog Nico was hamming it up in the background. Having animals around definitely lightens the mood. It also didn’t hurt that Karine was by far the nicest, easiest photographer to work with. I’m looking forward to working with her again, in the near future!

Overall, the shoot was a lot of fun. Lisa and Karine were great, and Catherine was a huge help. Catherine and I had a nice lunch and Bobby came to meet us, afterward. That’s when the day took a turn for the worse. Dun dun DUNNNN! He got a parking ticket AND got impounded. We walked up to the car, as they were hooking it up to the tow truck. The guy was a total jerk and wouldn’t even explain anything. It also bothered me that he had the doors open and was fishing around inside…so shady. To make a long story short, we followed it to the impoundment lot. Two hours and $300 later, we got the car back. Woooohooooo!

There were signs posted that said, “Picture taking prohibited!” I sure showed them!!!

Bobby was relieved to get the car back. I was, too, but I also wanted to punch that guy in the face. I know it’s his job, but he seemed to really enjoy ruining someone’s day. Rude, rude, rude!

Oh well, all is well that ends well. At least we got it back!
