A Family Post
Each time I return to Brooklyn from a trip back to Florida, I get a little homesick. It’s not the place I miss, it’s the people. It’s my first night back in New York, so please bear with me as I post pictures of the family to make myself feel better.
My grandma, mom and my 91 year old great grandma, Moe. Moe is an expert seamstress; she taught me a lot about sewing and I ran with it. Everything else was learned by trial and error, the same way she learned during the Great Depression, when she lied her way into a job at a factory. She entered with no sewing expertise and left the best seamstress in the garment district of St. Louis.
My sister Amanda and Moe. Before I took this picture, Moe wouldn’t smile for the camera. My mom told her she looked like a grumpy old b**** (this is how my family jokes) and Moe replied, “Up yours!” At least it got her to laugh for a picture!

It’s kind of crazy to think that we have five generations in our family. I guess it’s just a little hard for me to be away from the family so often, since there are little ones growing up so quickly and my great grandma is almost 92. Luckily, Bobby and I will be visiting again in March. Until then, I have a lot of sewing to keep me busy!
