When I was in high school, I was cast as the narrator in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Upon entering the musical theatre program at my university, I saw a guy wearing a cast shirt from another Joseph production. Since I felt a little out of place and everyone else seemed to somehow already know one another, I used it as an icebreaker. “Oh cool, your school did Joseph, too?” His reply? A scoff and an eye-roll followed by, “I am Joseph.”
We never did become friends, and I am no longer in musical theatre (unrelated to that incident). To be fair, that was a pretty lame attempt at breaking the ice; I never was very good at social introductions. Whose school didn’t do that show?
This dress just reminds me of the technicolor dreamcoat, which is why I recalled this very random story. My very own technicolor dreamcoat dress. Who’s Joseph now, sucker?!
