Erborian Skin Care Giveaway!
I teamed up with Erborian Skin Care to give three of my readers a set of Erborian Solid Cleansing Oil and Erborian Bamboo Waterlock Mask! I’ll be hosting the giveaway on my instagram (check back this afternoon!), but read on for more information about the Korean skin care products I’m currently loving.
Over the past few weeks, I’ve been experimenting with Halloween makeup — a lot of Halloween makeup. Clown white, a thick grease paint, is a far cry from my usual bb cream; if not properly removed, you can wreak havoc on your skin. I’ve spoken about double cleansing and using cleansing oils in my skin routine, and if you follow me on Snapchat, you’ve probably seen me using this particular product: Erborian Solid Cleansing Oil. I have a few different go-tos when it comes to cleansing oils, and this is the one for two specific things: 1. heavy makeup removal, and 2. travel. Don’t get me wrong: it can be used for light makeup removal or just cleansing in general, but its solid but creamy consistency makes it a must-have for those two, in particular. Liquids are great, but I prefer the solid for heavy makeup removal, to avoid becoming a dripping, muddy mess — and it goes without saying that traveling with a solid oil is much less of a risk than traveling with a liquid (which ALWAYS open up in my suitcases, no matter how much I secure them). Here’s how I use it: I scoop out a bit of the solid oil — which has the consistency of a thick ointment, at first — then massage it all over my face (with wet hands, which makes it a milky consistency), so that it can break down all of my makeup, spf, moisturizer, sebum, and grime that water-based cleansers can’t properly remove. Next, I use a damp muslin cloth to wipe it off, and it’s all gone. No tugging or scrubbing, no redness once it’s gone. I then go back and wash my face a second time (that’s why it’s called “double cleansing”) with a gentle, water-based cleanser, and finish the rest of my routine.
The second product we’re giving away is perfect for the impending winter season, though it can be used all year: the Erborian Bamboo Waterlock Mask. I love adding masks to my skin care routine, and have many different ones that target specific issues. The waterlock mask is great for when your skin needs hydration: in dry climates (like my skin’s enemy: central heat during the winter), after travel, when you’re sick, etc. I’m particularly fond of it when I’m under the weather, as it has a cooling effect and leaves my chapped skin feeling soft and hydrated. I prefer it as a quick mask — I apply it all over my face, leaves for ten minutes, and rinse — but you can also leave it on overnight.
