Everyone knows I love a theme, but no one appreciates it more than my dear friend, Landon. He and I have been known to coordinate our outfits (“Should we do 70s? How about in pink?”) and always dress for the occasion, whether its a rainbow look on Salvation Mountain or a full 70s gown in a desert cactus garden. I didn’t say we were practical, just that we love a theme. It makes everyday life a lot more fun, especially when adulting is bringing you down. He introduced me to Graze on a short road trip (in which we did not coordinate our outfits…horrifying!), and since I’m all about that snack life, I sampled all of Bobby’s, too. I even swapped one of mine for his stars n stripes, which are like adult fruit snacks. That’s one of the many perks of relationships: sharing food, so you get to try a little bit of everything.
We got our most recent Graze box — it’s subscription box that comes with 8 different snacks that you can mix and match, by the way — and brought it to the park for a mini picnic. I’m usually more of a savory snack kinda gal, but I gravitated toward the sweets (the rhubarb jam mix, dried pineapple and golden berries, and snickerdoodle dip with cinnamon pretzels were my favorites). They sent some cute novelty snack items with it, to celebrate their Yummertime collection of new summer flavors, including that precious umbrella. Is it a watermelon, or a strawberry? Bobby and I couldn’t come to an agreement. And since I love a theme, and my bike was already dressed in her strawberry seat cover from last summer, I went all out with the novelty fruit apparel. The weather wasn’t nice enough for a full spread and lazy day in the grass, but after days of really weird, windy and cold weather that kept us indoors, we were itching to get out and ride our bikes. It was still overcast and eventually started drizzling that fine mist that makes you wonder if it’s raining or just extra humid, but we were able to get a good hour or so in, riding around, snacking, and being goofs together. Luckily, I had my strawberry/maybe watermelon umbrella for the eventual “rain” – and pineapple sunglasses, just in case the sun decided to show on the way home. You know, the essentials. Sometimes, believe it or not, I’m a somewhat practical gal.
Thanks for the snacks and the good times, Graze!
