I don’t know about you, but I’m certainly ready for Spring to feel like Spring. Last month, I was hoodwinked by this particular day that reached the low 70s (with snow still on the ground, no less!) and made us think our dark Winter days were officially over. Everyone headed outdoors to celebrate the sunny weekend Of course, that was just a fluke and we went right back to shivering and navigating our way through the slushy roads and salted sidewalks of New York City. Yesterday’s 70s and today’s April shower’s better bring those May flowers, or else I’m going to lose my hope for a real Spring.
I’m pushing for it; I need that sunshine. I’m doing my best to smile and be mindful around here, because though it seems my mood reflects the weather, I sometimes suspect the reverse. Like I’m some alien princess whose tears cause it to rain, whose dark moods chase the sun away.*
Slightly related: I have been listening to meditation podcasts and have even woken up in the middle of the night a few times and put on the “Meditation Oasis” episode for sleeping, which helps when I have nightmares. If you’re an insomniac, suffer from nightmares or panic attacks while you sleep, I highly recommend it. It’s been pretty helpful and I wake up feeling well rested and ready for Spring. And that, my friends, is the lazy but somewhat effective away to bring a tangent back around.
(*I hope you know that’s said in jest, but there’s always someone who takes me a little too literally.)
