A New Docu-Series You Should Watch
If you’re a true crime fan like me, you should check out the new Netflix documentary series Wild Wild Country. The six-part series documents the rise and fall of the 1980s Rajneesh movement, the creation of their controversial Oregon commune, along with a ton of scandals including bioterrorism and attempted murders. As a true crime lover, I already knew the basic information about this cult; but what makes this series so compelling is the modern day interviews with key members of this cult plus the extensive archival footage. At times the story seems so unbelievable, an Indian guru who creates his own city in rural Oregon and simultaneously has the largest collection of Rolls Royces in the world! This strange story has so many twists and turns, even if you’re familiar with this story you will be shocked by the details they uncover! (Also this cult weirdly intersects with the Hollywood elite and the founder of Nike.) I highly recommend giving this a watch, and if you have any of your own documentary recommendations leave them in the comments below.
If you’ve already watched this documentary and you’re looking for more cult-related stories, there is a podcast called Zealot that covers all things cults.
