Back when I still had Brooklyn Brigade (our photo studio / workspace), I always talked about doing an elaborate set like this. We did fun portrait vignettes like my very favorite paper moon backdrop, the floral heart, and our many Halloween sets, but my dreams were always bigger than my budget and so it was all much more pared down than my ultimate goals. One day!
The Floral Escape’s Holiday Studio
When we walked into the The Floral Escape’s Holiday Studio, I thought, “This is what I wanted to do!” The depth, layers, textures, were such a dream. It inspired me to give it another go. Maybe not quite to this level or at this exact moment, since I’m now shooting in my living room…but maybe one day, when I have a little more space.
You can rent the Holiday Studio–which has 3 themed rooms–by the hour. It’s a completely private rental, so it’s perfect for taking some beautiful holiday photos without any unnecessary exposure. At $395 an hour, it’s probably best to split with people within your isolation bubble and divide your group in different rooms (we shared the space with Courtney and Paris) to maximize your time. We brought a continuous light & soft box for fill, which was especially handy for the red room — and bring a wider angle lens or iPhone for the red holiday room, as it’s smaller than the other 2!
I’ll post more photos from the other rooms, soon. Make sure you book in advance!
