Cute and Colorful Halloween Decor
Best part of owning a home? Getting to decorate more than one room! I love decorating but had a lot of limitations in our rentals, so getting to go all in on the things I love has been absolutely thrilling. Also thrilling? Getting to decorate for the holidays. I normally do one room — our bedroom — with pastel Halloween items, and go more traditional in the living room. This year, I mixed traditional and pastel in our guest room for a cute and colorful Halloween decor that I’d happily keep up all year.
I’m so thrilled with how this room has turned out, so far! I feel kind of silly showing you the Halloween decorated version of it before the completed room, but she looks so cute and spooky (or spoopy) with her Halloween decor. I mixed old and new Halloween decor from HomeGoods. The ghosty girl with the bow is from this year; the Ouija board pillow (which might be my favorite ever) is from a few years ago. All of the bedding and pillows are also from HomeGoods, and the wallpaper is Spoonflower Avery Retro Floral wallpaper. Can you tell I’m obsessed?
Lacy wears her handmade Halloween witch hat in a custom kitty cat size. I just posted a detailed cat witch hat tutorial on my instagram, since so many people requested it.
I’m showing you the “after” before the “before” of this bench, so pretend surprised when I do the dedicated post! I used matching Spoonflower fabric in Avery Retro Floral by red_raspberry_design to make a matching pillow and covered bench. Tutorials coming soon! For these two projects, I used the Celosia Velvet. Naturally, all Halloween decorations are HomeGoods finds, past and present. The bottom left bucket holds Fall potpourri that smells so good.
Left: I bought this pink pumpkin either last year or the year before, and though she (yes, she) used to live in our room, I loved the way she looked in the guest room with these hues from the new Spoonflower Avery Retro Floral wallpaper. I was originally going to get peel and stick, but ended up getting the pre-pasted, removable smooth option since we were doing the entire room. This wallpaper also comes in a larger scale option and with a darker background. I absolutely LOVE it!
Right: Some older Halloween HomeGoods finds that bring me joy: a bookend, a hollowed out “ouija board” box, and a light up, golden skull sit on top of a vintage, heart shaped wicker chair.
Left: I bought this large (and heavy!) spider at HomeGoods last year. I think it was under $10! I’ve used it for photo shoots, on the bookshelf, as a paper weight, and now as an accent at the bottom of the bed. Right: The boucle pumpkin was another HomeGoods find from this year.
My homemade pink witch hat (easy witch hat tutorial here) sits on top of my vintage dress form, with a candy corn garland.
The pastel Happy Halloween garland is a HomeGoods find from this year; the bats, ghosts and candy corn color garland are from last year and the year before. Stay tuned for more Halloween decor!
