The (surprisingly) most worn shoes in my closet

I’ll probably never be the person who reaches for sneakers on a daily basis. WEven if I do have a pink pair of New Balance sneakers in my Shopbop cart — but long gone are the days when my most worn shoes were also the least practical. I still remember walking for miles — in the New Orleans heat, no less! — while wearing the sky high Jessica Simpson platform heels. You know, the ones that looked like the Jeffrey Campbell Foxy-wood platforms…that are apparently still sold?! Though the giant platform helped, they were not walking shoes. As I got older, my feet eventually paid the price when I fell off my heels one time too many any hurt my ankle and was left with a permanent bump in my arch.

Loving big platform

These days, I still love a big platform every now and then. But I’m more likely to reach for flats for daily wear. But what I’ve learned recently is that low heel pumps — in particular, low block heel pumps — are even more comfortable to me than my flattest flats. Maybe it’s something to do with my arch or maybe it’s just a personal preference. Howerver, having just a little bit of lift at my heel feels better for my feet and ankles. Lately, I’ve been wearing these Toren slingback heels (I have them in the cream color, but they also come in tan) more than any other pair of shoes in my closet because they’re cute, retro looking, and incredibly comfy. There was no breaking in period. And, while they’re very simple, the detail on the heels give them a little something special. Just a heads up that I’m between an 8.5 and 9 depending on the shoes, and I took an 8.5 in these. I probably could have even done an 8, but the 8.5 felt fine — so size down, if you’re between sizes!

p.s. While writing this post, I realized they come in even more colors on different sites. I linked them below. You better believe I will be ordering them in pink, once they’re stocked!
