If you’re an avid podcast listener like me, you may have already subscribed to Audible. It’s mentioned in a lot of my favorite podcasts (Lore, Radiolab, Reply All — you can thank them for my subscription, Audible!), and it didn’t take long for me to become a member. I’ve always been a big reader, but reading on the train or in the car is not a possibility for me. I’m way too sensitive to motion sicknessĀ for that, so it’s all podcasts, audiobooks, and music for me. The beauty of an audiobook is that it can be a replacement orĀ supplement to the hard copy.Ā I often go for the latter, swapping between readingĀ and listeningĀ or simply revisiting old favorites. My long trip to Thailand was largely passedĀ with a continuation ofĀ Middlemarch, after mistakenly packing my book in my checked baggage, and I sometimes make theĀ Harry Potter series my bedtime stories, with a speaker at my bedside. It makes for magical dreams.

I’m currently listening to Love WarriorĀ by Glennon Doyle Melton — quite literally, I might add, as I’m halfway through chapter 4 as I type this. It’s a memoir about hitting rock bottom and the growth that comes with it. Both a vulnerable andĀ empowering tale of self discovery, it touches on so many sensitive issues that it simultaneously moves me and makes me uncomfortable. Because it hits home. I see myself, my sister, my mother, my friends…and I haven’t even gotten to her present day.

You probably already know the name, because it’s the current selection from Oprah’s Book Club.Ā Raise your hand if you’ll read anything Oprah tells you read! *Raises hand*Ā So, if you’re like me and are currently reading and/or listening to it, can we please discuss? And if you haven’t started yet, you can download it on Audible forĀ free with your 30 day trial. I still have over five hours left before I finish (aka several train rides to and from the city), so you still have time to catch up!
