Those of you who read my blog regularly might know that I recently bought a television – the first one I’ve had since I moved to New York. Now, it’s not like I didn’t have a TV because I felt intellectually superior to the trash they televise these days; in fact, I eat that trash up like it’s a dish full of strawberries. Big Ang, Coco – they’re my new heroes. Who says you can’t enjoy The Economist and a DVR full of housewives with a lot of plastic surgery? Mostly everyone? Oh, well; someone has to be the black sheep. And by the way, I usually read The Economist while I’m on an exercise bike…with a healthy dose of fashion (okay, and gossip) magazines for when I’m done with that. It’s all about balance. And it’s also about hiding Us Weekly underneath the others.
So yes, I’m on a television binge. It certainly helps to have it in the background while I’m working. Right now, I’m on a Golden Girls kick. I’ve probably seen most of the episodes in my lifetime, but that doesn’t make them any less enjoyable. There is a full marathon going on and I’ve been watching them from the beginning. It’s just as funny today as it was when it originally aired. Only now, I actually understand all of the jokes…since I was only a baby when it started!
