Bright Outfit Ideas For Fall
Fall is my favorite season, and not just because I love pumpkin pie, apple picking, and the changing of the leaves (although I do love all of those things). It’s just the perfect transitional season, when it’s perfectly acceptable to wear a sweater on top and bare legs on the bottom — it’s like magic. Since Fall is just around the corner, I’m gradually bringing out my seasonal layers. But if you think the changing season automatically means I’m going to relegate myself to an all neutral palette, you’re probably new here. Welcome! My wardrobe is filled with color all year round. Don’t get me wrong: I also love neutrals, but colorful outfits are my instant pick-me-up. Have you seen our studio? Even my refrigerator is a lovely shade of mint green. Its contents are equally colorful, thanks to our friends at IZZE, who stocked our cute lil’ fridge with our favorite sparkling fruit juices. For this post, we teamed up for a shoot at Brooklyn Brigade, where I put together a few bright outfit ideas for Fall, inspired by a few of my favorite IZZE flavors: Sparkling Apple, Blackberry, and Clementine…with a matching straw for each (naturally).
I’m a longtime IZZE lover — it all started with Grapefruit, many moons ago — but this was my first time trying Apple, believe it or not! I love apple juice, but sparkling juice makes it even better. My mom and I were vintage shopping and spotted this bright green wrap skirt. Even though it’s a pretty summery looking print, the weight of the fabric is more substantial than most cotton wrap skirts. Simply adding a lightweight turtleneck turns it into a transitional piece.
Holly’s favorite flavor (just ask anyone who has ever attended one of our events – she always recommends it), and the inspiration behind my favorite outfit. It’s impossible to wear this coat and not be happy; it’s like wearable sunshine. It’s warm enough for Winter wear (with additional layers), but a little over the shoulder action makes it Fall appropriate. I’m sure you’ve been able to tell that my wardrobe is all about maximum wearability; if I’m going to buy an item of clothing, I want to get the most wear out of it.
With Sparkling Clementine comes shades of orange, of course! Clementines are one of the major perks of colder months. Does anyone else buy them in bulk, the second they’re in season? My mom got this vintage coat for me, which I hemmed to a shorter length. With such a bold pattern and a swingy fit, it felt a little overwhelming in its original, below the knee length. I layered it over a matching jumper and vintage shirt, and paired the getup with my favorite frames. It’s a little bit Austin Powers meets Velma from Scooby-Doo, which is fine by me. To me, style is all about having fun!
Which option (and IZZE flavor!) is your favorite? Are you more into neutrals, or will you bring your brights into Fall?
